Soft Hearted
I did a good deed today. . . but i'm not sure if it was really one. . . My intention was to do a good deed definitely. . .
Met with this middle-aged chinese man outside Outram Park MRT station on my way back from dental appointment. . . He claimed he was from some student welfare organisation or whatsoever and asked if i am a student. . . I hesitated in giving a reply, thinking of telling him that i am not, but in the end, i gave him a frank reply(not prepared to tell a lie for such a cause). . There was a young malay girl beside him, probably around my age or slightly older. . . He tried to introduce her to me, making us shake hand etc etc etc. . . He then went a big round before showing his real motive, asking me if i had made any donation during this holiday, telling me that we students should help each other, especially those fortunate one like me should help those less fortunate one like us(referring to that Malay girl beside). . . Then came his real motive. . He placed a "thing that people hang on their phones" on my hand. . . Looks quite cute, it's a bear. . . He told me to get it for $2, and it's purely charity. . . I was rather reserved at believing his words, especially when he said 'for charity'. . . Yet i could not bear rejecting his offer, just don't have the heart to do it. . . I got my wallet, search for the $2. . . and he came out with one more of that stuff. . . but this time it's a pink colour one. . . He told me to get 2. . . one for my girlfriend. . . What a basket. . . He was more like doing business than persuading people to donate la. . ! I told him i don't have a girlfriend, and he said. . : " how can don't have, you so handsome. . . Tell her to be your girlfriend(referring to that malay girl again) la. . ." Basket. . . Two of us were like. . . feeling damn awkward manz. . . Anyway, i didn't care how he tried to psycho me, i insisted on getting just one. . . I took out a $5 from my wallet and asked if he got any change. . . From his own pocket, this man got out a load of cash and return me the $3 change. . . And. . . He ironically asked me to hand the money to that malay girl, empathising that the money is not for him, it's for her. . .
I guess everybody could see i am most probably conned. . . Well, i knew it myself. . . But it's only $2. . . and i still bear a hope that the whole thing is real. . .
This incident brought me the memory to that time when i was in China. . . Was about to proceed to the railway station to Dali when an old man approached me and begged me for money. . . I was hesitant initially. . . But this man came kneeling down. . . I just couldn't stand such scene. . . I took out my wallet, trying hard to search for some small change, but i realised i have none. . I was struggling to break off the scene, while i was still finding money to give him. . . Then Mr Tan Kim Koon went shouting at me, calling me to just walk away. . . I received a lecture by him after that. . . Can't imagine this, i was trying to do some good deed and received a scolding instead. . Of course, i realised the rationale behind later. . . These people just cannot be pity. . . There are capable of working, and giving them money is as good as encouraging them to live off begging. . . Haiz. . . I am just too soft-hearted for so many times. . .
Yesterday. . . Today. . . I wasn't feeling happy at all. . . Haiz. . .
