BiG !
The camp is finally over. . ! Months and weeks of planning saw everything coming to an end few hours ago. . . But was it a success. . . .?
Spent so much time and effort in hoping to make the camp an exciting and wonderful one. . . I was so hoping that everyone will just enjoy it. . . It turned out otherwise. . . The response from the campers during the debrief session was not good. . . Though they still gave an overall 'not bad' remark for the camp, but i am a perfectionist. . . I can't accept this kinda feedbacks as a way of marking the camp as 'successful'. . . In fact. . . Most of the comments given were like. . . 'it was disorganise most of the time. . . too much time wasted on waiting. . . too little activities. . .' I was disappointed. . . Despite the effort put in, i still failed to tackle these areas. . . It's the problem of the leadership, i did my best. . . but i just can't prove that i can lead well. . .
Nevertheless, i have to admit that i had learned quite a few things while planning and organising the camp. . . I proved myself capable of organising such a big thing. . . Throughout the process of getting the bikes for the night cycling, applying for permit, getting the logistics, to clearing the drains for drain crawling, it all wasn't easy. . . I did it, just like those from NTU and NUS ODAC can do. . . *Give a clap to myself. . . Of course i didn't do it alone. . . Really have to commend on Jerry, Shi Rui and Raymond, they have been great help. . . The process of loading and unloading 50 bikes onto and from an undersized lorry was especially memorable. . . The pros from the bicycle rental shop demonstrated the loading process once, squeezing in the bikes in their 'professional' ways. . . We failed to learn, but we did it our own way. . . and perhaps we did better than them. . . We got ourselves extremely shagged and dirty, yet all was worth it, it gave us a sense of satisfactory. . . Though we didn't receive compliment from the campers for the cycling activity, this is something which we organisers experienced and deserve to praise and reward ourselves. . . Clearing the drain for the drain crawl was another dirty job. . . The drain passage was infested with cox webs and spiders. . . It took us hell lotsa of courage before we finally go in. . . Of course i wasn't the brave soul, Jerry was the hero. . . It all lies in the mind. . . We overcame the mental barrier of spiders, lizards, webs etc etc, recce the passage times and times again. . . A clap for all these work, the drain crawling was the most successful activity for the camp, receiving much of the pathetic little compliments. . . There were lessons to be learned during the planning of this camp too. . . Many things cropped up while returning the bikes. . . Helmets were found missing, parts were found spoiled or missing. . . Not quite possible were them be stolen or lost, most likely because we had not received them or was damaged from the beginning. . . In any case, it was still our fault, we should have checked carefully from the start, and we paid the price for it. . . $20 for the compensations, from our own pockets. . . So. . . May be this is the most probably the last big thing i'm gonna do in ODAC. . . Sounds so sad. . . Although the camp may not be that successful, i showed that i am capable, of doing something BIG. . . There will be more to come, more BIG things that i'm gonna show i can do. . ! I want to do BIG things, i can make it BIG, i am the next BIG thing. . !
